Charonist is a term for a supporter of Emperor Charon. The term emerged after the merger between the Dark Empire and Galactic Empire; supporters of the Emperor Charon were referred to has Charonists while those who backed Vodo were dubbed Vodoists.

After the fall of Charon most of his supporters left the Galactic Empire and dispersed; the largest group became part of the Jedi Praxium but drifted away. Charonist Vir Calder disappeared during the events leading up to the Battle of Beta. A number of Charonists such as Seele, Cyrus Cloudwalker and Martel Bryden subsequently returned to the Galactic Empire; however most left again as part of the New Imperial Order schism.

Despite the passage of time, the terms Charonist and Vodoist remained in common usage.
